Looking ahead to the 2010 MS Awareness Week

Last week I heard about the MS3Things contest and I’m in. OK, so it’s not really directly related to my “Project MS 12×12″ but it is another way of volunteering my time in a fun way. Oh and winning a Flip UltraHD camcorder would be kinda cool too!

Raising awareness about a cause can be tricky, especially when you have a well-established brand that might be hidden in plain sight. Seeking out all the latest literal and virtual town squares and making a video about your cause is the best way to get on your soapbox these days.

I could put on a Billy Mays blue shirt and feel like I was selling leopard print dog Snuggies or I could just share my story. People like stories, people understand stories, people feel stories.

I started last night but after writing the sentence above, I am realizing that while it might make a great TV commercial it lacked, well a story! I spent way too long on it but at the very least, it was good to spend time thinking about what would I want the people to know about MS?

But hang on a second, doesn’t the Society do a pretty good job at raising awareness? They do but I’ve lived with MS for a while and I’m pretty up on what it’s all about. Since I have been thinking about is so much these days, I often forget that not everyone else is.

The one thing I do know, they probably don’t know MY perspective. Ok, since I started bogging about MS, there is a higher chance that more have heard my story… but they haven’t heard MY voice!

I got to the 26th… so back to the storyboard I go.
